Under-construction

I wanted to get this done yesterday and up, but I caught a terrible morgan spice flu! Its un-finished but ill fix that in the next day. My third story for 'talesofthe' went online yesterday, it's a 10 page christmas horror-as thats the theme this month called "May all your wishes come true" You can check it out by clicking here.

Gio i did have a peace to put up this was it...... just didnt have time to put it up till now. I was going of a coimic book character and something funny to do with christmans because shaun asked me to do somthing christmasy lol so this is what i came up with and it can work aswell bacause i always liked the joker when i was younger to birds with one stone happyday lol

Had to be, and still is in my opinion the greatest cartoon ever. I remember being really young and jumping around the sofa at around 5.30 to the sound, you know the one- baaaa-daaaa-dat-da-dad-a-da- except much better than that collection of vowels and consonants, then bang the bank would blow up! aaahhh good times, good times.
Well anyways, heres my really quick colour sketch. This started out with the intention of being my first digital painting, but I found it quite a bit harder than I expected so it became more graphical. I wouldnt be surprised if theres more animated series pieces from me...

New theme....

I was hoping John would have left a new theme for us but saying he hasn't I shall decide,....and it is...........childhood cartoon characters!

Found this parasite one very hard HOW THE F**K!!!!!! do u draw a parasite lol so here's my go at it dont even think its rite but this is what i came up with and this is all im doing no more parasite plz only joken this 1 tested me i likey ha .......

Didnt get much time to work on this weeks so its a bit sketchy, got as far as roughing in the colours but instead just block shaded it and blended in the rough sketch for a little extra form.

..better known by his intestinal friends as Gary. Parasite is a bit a of a strange one as googling it will get you nothing but worms. So I just decided to do a weird thingy ma bob that you can imagine is microscopic and eating your liver!

My first wee submission for the 2d collective so I wanted to try something a little outa my comfort zone! I had intended to have a 2nd character in frame but manga men are hard to do without making them look like 12yr girls! the only thing I cant take credit for is the nose art decal which I pinched off the net :-) Hope you like!


Oh Gio mentioned about choosing a theme for this week, what are peoples thoughts on parasites? haha!

Welcome welcome....

We have a new member- Shaun Whoriskey. A Derry man and a hell of an artist in both 2d and 3d forms. I'm quite pleased to have Shaun join us as it almost feels like we started drawing together, way back in primary one- he drew dinosaurs and I drew guys with weapons. Ahh good times. We'll keep these theme weeks going, from monday to monday, we'll let manga run until the 7th then Shaun can pick the next theme and we'll rotate it about, coolio?

Another manga sketch...attempt...

This craic is no craic at all!! I feel like me drawing ability has reset to that of 7 year old! Looking at stuff online and some advise from Sir Neville of Chamberlain, the thing that I liked about the style was everything more angular, so with that in mind I attempted this very dodgy sketch using only the line tool. Well mostly the line tool theres about 5% pen tool. I dont like this sketch but thought I'd throw it up anyway, all greif in the comments below thank you.

Manga sketch's

Found it quite hard trying to do something manga styled, its a way of drawing I've never tried before so all I could come up with in the time being is some sketches. Hopefully I'll get a proper piece up when I get the hang of how to draw them. Until then..........

Trying to keep this theme weeks going with manga this week went into one here abit!!!! But i was looking online and seen that manga uses alot of fantasy background with singal figures soooo heres my go at it.

why's gothic girl orientated?

Really like, just type Gothic into google and nearly everything you get up is girl with loads of eye makeup. Ok i get that thats the look but for me gothic darker, seedier,.. so I came up with this... yes there is a girl in it but with a little more sinister shit going on too. Really enjoying doing this as it something I wouldn't normally try to do. Done this again using manga studio, its rough round the edges but I was going for atmosphere over prettiness.

Went a bit mad here lol dont know where it came from thinking i might have a little bit of goth in me HA!!!! Well its just keeping with the theme me know what u think.

gothic, eh.........

...when you said gothic John the only person I wanted to draw was, Death. She's from 'Sandman' if you don't know her already. Done this in manga studio then threw in some greys with photoshop. I really like the theme idea, we should do a different character each week give us good practice for when 2D rolls round again.

went a bit cothic here but think it turned out cool. Think we should get this site up and going again lads 1 or 2 drawings a week what do u think ill start it with this peice make it GOTHIC week.

Havent put anything up in abit !!!!.. seen gio's robots and thought ill give it a go and this is what i came up with really like the way this ended up so let me know what u think.......

Here is a wee go at punisher i seen the guns on the net and thought they would look well on this figure then just used my own head and the punisher symbol and hey presto i think it worked well. havent posted on this site for a bit so thought i would put this up that me know what u think.

Script Frenzy

Hi there! I know I haven't posted in a while - my moving out of NI and back to France has taken most of my time. Now that I've pretty much settled down, I'd like to talk to you about the Script Frenzy.

The Script Frenzy is a sister event of the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), which I posted about much earlier on this blog (read here). The lowdown is similar: you are challenged to write a 100-page script in 30 days.

The challenge starts on April 1st at midnight and ends on April 30th at 23:59. The script can be for anything that needs one : film, TV, radio, documentary, stage play, stand-up comedy and - of course - comics. And it can be about anything you want to write about - serious or funny, realistic or imaginary, etc, etc...

The Frenzy starts in around a week, so you will have time to sign up and figure out a story and - if you have never done that before - learn how to type a comic script. We have pretty much covered that in the CADI course at the Verbal Arts Centre but there are still some useful resources on the web. The websites of publishing houses like Marvel or Dark Horse have some help pages or templates and the SF site provides also help about how to format a comic script. The forums are here to help you too.

So, if you have a comic project you have been entertaining for a while, it's the right opportunity to get it started. As for me, I intend to adapt my novel Red Hot Moon - more exactly, start the script anew as a lot of things have changed in my head and the pages I've drawn for the course aren't right anymore.

Its been awhile!!

What up people, its been a god few weeks since anythings been posted on here, by anyone- well thats cause were all busy working away on our new project! So ive set up a blog to follow the creation of the book, hopefully without giving away too many spoilers! i liked the black and white more than the colour so i thought id jazz it up a bit then post it tell me what u thinks better i think in the colour i shouldnt have put in the eyes

i was going throught and few old things and came across the image that i done to post but never did it was going to be the character for my vilgilanti story

digging through the old files for something to post and found this, its from another of danny's potential stories, but this time it involves pre existing characters from the dc universe. Can you tell who this might be??

definately the most recurring character ive posted up here, but ive just always liked that detective look. Nearing the hundredth post now boys,-whose gonna get there??? After doing the lobo versus papa smurf i liked the idea of cartoons vs comics, so stay tuned for a follow up- the flash versus run roader, but who will take the lead i hear you ask, you have to wait and see.

I must say, I was originally going to spend a whole lot more time on this and do it by hand, but i sorta set it at a bad time. Getting this new project im dying to just get stuck in so I just done a quick digital sketch up. I will get round to doing it properly once i have made a start on this project. You know what im like lads!!

Attack Of The Bloodravens

Just messin' around with this one,not really finished as my computer is acting up. I got fed up so this is as far as I got before I threw the computer out the window(well almost).

BBrrraaaainnns!....

.....well not really, i never really liked the whole zombie eat brain things, was never that into zombies neither until i read 'i am legended', buzz of that book read it at least four times, the films about 1% if even of the content of the book. It puts a bit of believable science behind the myth, rocking.
But anyway this will be the last thing i show of this reseige/zombie themed stuff - what started out as me just trying to figure out manga studio, has taken upon itself to be become a full on story, that was nice of it wasn't it. So this is the pencilled page, done digitally and took a heck of a long time, without a doubt the most people ive tried to draw in one scene.
When i was doing it i just kept thinking about the avengers breakout, cause ever single panel is a full on crowd scene, how the hell your man (its bendis or finch cant remember which one draws) can do that shit!!

Figured the best way to see what i could do with this manga studio was to try a panelled page. Done all aspects of it digitally, and quite pleased, just relising this one isnt actually the finished one but its near enough.
